Devoted Dad and CEO of the Mornington Community Support Centre Ben Smith is the 2024 Victorian Father of the Year and will be honoured at a special ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall. Lord Mayor Nick Reece will be joined by 2002 winner Barry Novy OAM in announcing the winner of this year’s award.

SPEC (Spectacular) is an annual summer camp event organised by the Community of Christ, specifically designed for high school students and young adults from around the world.

I am delighted to announce that the Mission Centre will be hosting Dr Matt Frizzell for a 2 week visit at the end of October. Matt currently serves as Denominational Administrator, Community of Christ, Chicago, where he leads a team of Human Resource professionals serving approximately 200 ministers across the U.S.A. and in twenty countries in Africa, Latin America, and Europe. He was formerly the Dean of the church seminary, and before that, campus minister at Graceland University. I served with Matt on the Standing High Council a decade ago. 

Most of us are familiar with the Parable of the Sower. At the end of the parable Jesus says, “If you have ears, Listen!” I know I will be listening with both ears this Sunday when I tune into Australia Worships On-Line when we will hear Emma Ghazarian from Victoria share with us her insights about the Parable of the Sower. I’m sure there will be plenty of fertile ground to spread the seeds of joy, hope, love and peace when we fellowship together. I look forward to seeing you there as well. RT

Who’s coming? 

 So far we have about 200 people registered. Our special guest Minister is Stassi Cramm, member of Community of Christ First Presidency. Stassi was recently called to serve as next President of Community of Christ, and will be the first woman to serve in that role. Stassi resides in the United States and will be joined at Tiona by her husband, Stephen.  

On Sunday, June 30th, 75 individuals participated in a virtual Special Mission Center Conference where delegates approved the 2024-2025 Mission Center Budget, along with a presentation of the Saints Care Budget.

The Special Mission Centre Conference will be held virtually on June 30th at 2:00 p.m. AEST. The agenda will include a consideration of financial reports and budgets and a presentation from the Ministry and Mission Steering Committee summarising the 5 main projects being explored in the next phase of the process, and new ways to get involved.
